This week is the 19th annual "National Truth for Youth Bible Week" on a Christian radio network – and the Louisiana-based ministry that produces that Bible reports the outreach to America's youth is approaching a major milestone.
People listening to American Family Radio this week have heard testimonies like this:
Young girl: "And I woke up one morning and I told myself that if nobody told me that they loved me that day, then I was just going to kill myself. That day at school a girl that I didn't know came rushing over to my locker and she handed me a Truth for Youth Bible and she said, 'Hey, Jesus loves you. You should read this.'"
Dr. Tim Todd of Revival Fires International, which sponsors the giveaway, says he has heard thousands of stories like that over the years – and this week, he expects to hit a big number.
"Over the past 18 years, we've given away more than 950,000 [of the Bibles] through the National Truth for Youth Bible Week," he tells OneNewsNow. "This week we'll cross over the one-million Bible mark."
The Truth for Youth Bible is designed specifically for teenagers, with the entire New Testament in an easy-to-read but accurate God's Word Translation, along with a hundred pages of full-color graphic novels in the front section.
"[Those address] things like drugs and drunkenness and peer pressure, pornography," Todd describes. "We deal with the truth about what the Bible says about homosexuality, we deal with abortion, sexual purity."
The evangelist says not only are they reaching youngsters for Christ, they are pushing back against the secularization of public schools.
"We have received more than 25,000 decision coupons or emails from young people who have been saved as a direct result of getting a copy of the Truth for Youth Bible – and we're able to get the Word of God back in school," he shares.
The Bible is available in both English and Spanish – and individuals are able to request a free copy either through American Family Radio or online at TruthForYouth.com.
