Bible 12019 has been pronounced as the "Year of the Bible" in North Central Ohio, where an effort is under way to reclaim the Word.

Clergy leaders made the announcement at the BibleWalk Museum outside Mansfield as elected officials stood along with their support. In all, faith leaders representing 150 congregations signed the declaration about God's Word.

"We want to see a revival of the World of God," says Randy Raynes, pastor of Mansfield Fellowship Baptist Church.

He is concerned with biblical illiteracy in our society, the fact that scripture is being censored by government and cultural institutions, and both the Old and New Testaments are being subverted by some religious circles.

"We just wanted to make a statement throughout the county, and this area," he tells OneNewsNow, "that we need to get back to the Word of God."

The pastor says God has blessed their community as faith leaders come together. In the past, the same group has taken stands for other spiritual and political issues.
