Paige PattersonFORT WORTH, Texas (May 23, 2018) - Baptist Press reports that Dr. Paige Patterson is no longer president of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The announcement came early Wednesday morning after a 13-hour meeting of the trustees of the seminary.

Patterson has been under fire in recent weeks by various critics who say that over the years, he has mishandled cases dealing with women who say they were facing abuse.

According to Baptist Press, Paige has been appointed president emeritus of the Fort Worth-based seminary, effective immediately. The trustees have named Jeffrey Bingham, the seminary's dean of theology, as interim president, pending his acceptance.
