Protect My Ministry, a comprehensive background screening provider, is teaming up with the religious liberty legal firm Alliance Defending Freedom. ADF senior counsel Erik Stanley says the two organizations are coming together to empower churches by offering proactive and practical protection for churches.

Last October, ADF launched the Church Alliance membership program, which prepares, advises, and defends churches on religious liberty issues. Meanwhile, Protect My Ministry helps ministries fill the gaps in their risk management strategy.

Stanley, Erik (ADF)"Practically, it means that Church Alliance members will be getting a discount for their background checks through Protect My Ministry," he explains, "and that Protect My Ministry will send churches to the Church Alliance – and they'll get a discount as well off of their Church Alliance membership dues."

Areas of specialization at Protect My Ministry include selecting the right people for ministries, and preventing child abuse that could harm a ministry.

The hope and prayer in this partnership, says Stanley, is that pastors will feel more free to engage in the ministry to which God has called them: to proclaim the gospel. "And that the church can be freed up to just be more effective in doing that without bogged down with the legalities," he adds.
