More 'nones' creates less-kind America

young man with BibleEight years after President Barack Obama promised to bring hope and change to America, there is lots of change but hope seems to be waning.

According to the Pew Research Center, the faith group that's seen the most growth in the last eight years has been the so-called 'Nones,' who are those with no faith at all.

Dr. Richard Land of Southern Evangelical Seminary says the effect is to separate the sheep from the goats.

"America is getting less religious and more religious at the same time," he observes.

The percentage of Americans who have walked away from their faith has risen, he points out, "but at the same time the percentage of Americans who are Christians are more observant and take their faith more seriously than was the case ten years ago."

Pew's close look at Christians and "Nones" is included in its analysis of Obama's eight years in office, along with demographic numbers, the state of the economy, views of the news media, and political beliefs about gun control, climate change, and ObamaCare.

The figures about faith found that U.S. adults who identify as atheists or agnostics is approximately one-quarter of the U.S. population, up from 16 percent in 2007.

So what does that mean for the church down the road? There is no fear about the future of the Church, Land predicts, pointing out that Jesus proclaimed that the "gates of Hell" won't stop the Church.

"I do have some concerns about my country," he tells OneNewsNow.

As America becomes less and less culturally Christian, he predicts, it will also become less giving, less generous, less kind and more self-absorbed.
