Biden admin: Gas prices killing you? Good, you deserve it

High gas prices are affecting everyone from long-haul truckers to a family’s vacation budget, but the worst part of the wallet crunch is the Biden administration isn’t rushing to help anytime soon.
In fact, some are suggesting the fossil-fuel hating Left wants gas prices to hurt Americans good and hard, like a stubborn child learning a painful lesson.
“If you drive an electric car, this would not be affecting you,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm recently lectured Americans who were stuck in gas lines due to the hacking and ransom demands against Colonial Pipeline.
"The greens do not mind high gas prices," Stuart Varney, the Fox Business host, said this week in reference to environmentalists. “They want high gas prices because that flushes us out of gasoline-powered cars and gets us into electric-powered cars, which is what they think is best for the planet.”
Environmental activist Bill McKibben, who supported Biden’s campaign, told the BBC that the President is sending a “decisive signal about the end of one epoch and the beginning of another.”
That is because the Left’s accepted consensus is fossil fuels are the main culprit behind climate change, which means our future is in peril every time a mom fills up the family van at the corner gas station and another trucker pulls into the interstate truck stop.
John Kerry, the Biden administration's climate czar, told the BCC that Biden is "mobilising every department, every agency of the United States government to focus on climate and he is determined to try and restore America's credibility and reputation."
According to the American Automobile Association, which tracks gas prices, the nationwide average for a gallon of regular is $3.03, when it was averaging $2.88 one month ago. A year ago, the average price of a gallon of regular was $1.96, AAA pointed out.
Dan Kish of the Institute for Energy Research, which supports oil and gas exploration, recalls that an Energy Secretary under Barack Obama suggested Americans should be paying higher prices for gasoline like Europeans do.
“So this is not something new," Kish tells One News Now.
Unleaded regular gas is averaging $6.80 a gallon in Germany and $6.21 in Spain, website GlobalPetrolPrices.com reports.
"It isn't often discussed, because it is not politically palatable,” Kish says, “but the idea of driving up the cost of energy in the U.S., so they'll be forced to use some energy that is sanctioned by the government, is long-held by the policymakers here in D.C."
Despite the Left's frantic tone, Kerry used a fuel-guzzling private jet to receive an environmental award in Iceland in 2019.
Granholm, who told Americans last month they should be driving electric vehicles, sat on the board of a Silicon Valley company that manufactures electric vehicles, The Washington Free Beacon pointed out.
