Pro-Life

40 years since Roe v. Wade

Charlie Butts   (OneNewsNow.com) Monday, October 22, 2012

A special website has been set up to remind people about the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.

January 2, 2013, will mark the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision handed down by America's highest court. Dr. Peggy Hartshorn of Heartbeat International tells OneNewsNow one of the purposes of RememberingRoe.com is to bring some unity to the pro-life movement.

Hartshorn, Peggy (Heartbeat International)"As a united movement -- a group of people who are all united in our horror over what has happened as result of Roe v. Wade -- we wanted to give an opportunity for people to come together and remember, reflect, repent, and pray," Hartshorn details.

In featured videos available at the website, leaders in the pro-life movement reflect on the day the court decision came down, and they share special memories associated with it in subsequent years.

"Others [have] an opportunity to sign up for an hour of prayer that we're going to have on January 22. Again, that will be via the website," the Heartbeat International spokesperson notes. "You can sign up to join us for prayer from 3:00-4:00."

Sponsors hope at least 1.2 million people will send red postcards to the president on January 22, letting him know that pro-lifers want protection for every person from conception to natural death and an end to Roe v. Wade.
