A conservative activist and former presidential candidate believes a liberal-leaning media outlet's release of a video of Mitt Romney should encourage conservative voters who support the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.
Mother Jones' online story titled "Secret Video: On Israel, Romney Trashes Two-State Solution" features links to a video from May 17 of Mitt Romney discussing Israel at a private fundraiser in Boca Raton, Florida, where he addressed the issue of a Palestinian state.
"I look at the Palestinians not wanting to see peace anyway for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel, and these thorny issues, and I say, 'There's just no way,'" the presidential nominee is heard saying.
But despite the political fallout from the recording, Gary Bauer of American Values thinks the American people overwhelmingly agree with Romney's comments.
"The Palestinians continue to educate their children for hatred, continue to teach children that the only way to please Allah is to martyr yourself. So clearly this idea that we're going to have two states living side-by-side in peace is more and more of a pipe dream," Bauer contends.
"If these are the kinds of things they think will destroy Mitt Romney, I suspect Governor Romney is sitting there hoping they release more video."
Bauer believes voters will be reassured about Romney's support for Israel when they see this leaked video of his remarks.
