Akin deserves GOP's support

Chad Groening   (OneNewsNow.com) Friday, September 07, 2012

Another pro-family activist is coming to the defense of embattled Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin.

Brian Camenker, president of MassResistance, had the chance to meet Akin several years ago and says he was impressed with the congressman's character. Now, he cannot understand why the Republican Party has thrown Akin under the bus, despite the fact that he has apologized for his now infamous misstatement about "legitimate rape."

Camenker, Brian (MassResistance)"I think that the fact that he was so far ahead in the polls before this incident happened, and the fact that he won a very hotly-contested primary shows that he is capable of coming back and winning," Camenker suggests. "The question is are the Republicans going to continue to try to keep that from happening?"

He is bothered by the double standard.

"It's one thing for Todd Akin to talk about rape, [but] Bill Clinton was actually accused of rape during the campaign and accused of sexual harassment," the MassResistance president recalls. "Then there was the Monica Lewinsky thing and getting impeached, and they all stuck with him. They all pretended like it was just nothing."

But with incident now behind him, Camenker says indications suggest Akin is making a comeback and will win this race.
