Zbigniew BrzezinskiA political activist and former presidential candidate is calling on President Barack Obama to denounce an obscene suggestion made by former President Jimmy Carter's national security advisor.

Over the weekend, former President Jimmy Carter's national security advisor and vocal supporter of Barack Obama, Zbigniew Brzezinski, suggested that the U.S. should shoot down Israeli jets if they try to attack Iran.

Brzezinski was asked how aggressively Obama should insist that Israel not strike Iran's nuclear weapons facilities. He responded, "We are not exactly impotent little babies. They [the Israelis] have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?" When pressed by the interviewer, he added, "Well, we have to be serious about denying them that right. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not."

Gary Bauer 1Gary Bauer is chairman of American Values. "This former Carter advisor, and now an unofficial advisor to President Obama, on the one hand suggests that we should tolerate Iran as it gets a nuclear weapon and we ought to go to war with Israel. I found the comments to be obscene," Bauer says. "I'm also astonished that the White House did not disavow him and put distance between themselves and Mr. Brzezinski."

He also believes the Obama administration should immediately denounce Brzezinski's suggestion and remove him from any advisory role -- official or otherwise -- he may have with the president.
