Open Doors USA is gearing up for the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted Church.
On November 8, Christians are encouraged to remember those facing persecution for their faith in Christ. Jerry Dykstra, a spokesman with Open Doors, says the ministry is not only trying to observe the day of prayer, but also is trying to get Bibles into the hands of children living in persecuted nations. "We hear of a great need for Bibles by Sunday schools and youth groups, and they don't have access to Bibles like we do here," he points out. "This is our focus this year, and we're asking congregations if they observe [International Day of Prayer] that they would also give towards these Bibles so we can put these into the hands of these young believers." Dykstra says it only costs $5 to get a Bible sent to someone in a country where persecution is occurring.
