Evangelist Franklin Graham has visited North Korea to deliver humanitarian aid to the communist country.
It is the third visit for the son of Billy Graham and comes half a year after North Korea expelled all humanitarian groups. During his visit, Graham met with high-level government officials and inspected some of the medical facilities installed by Samaritan's Purse. Graham also oversaw delivery of $190,000 in equipment to outfit a dental school. Ken Isaacs, vice president of the ministry, says although the North Korean government keeps a close tab on visitors, the trips provide a way for doors to open for the gospel. "[Franklin Graham's] not only being a witness for Christ with the government officials and the people that he's allowed to interact with, but everything in North Korea is about relationships and gaining trust to gain more access -- and he was received, as he is every time, by senior government officials," says the ministry spokesman. Isaacs says the whole thing is a long-term process and they are working to improve relations between the U.S. and North Korea so that more doors can be opened to the gospel and that more avenues could be found to aid those in the oppressed country.
