Irish modern hymn writers and singers Keith and Kristyn Getty have released a new CD in the United States.
The album, Awaken the Dawn, marks a return to the traditional Celtic sound of the Gettys' homeland. Keith Getty tells OneNewsNow about its contents. "I was really pleased with the opening of the album because it combines 'Hear, O Israel,' which is a call to worship to the song 'Come People of the Risen King' -- and 'Hear, O Israel' is very ambient and mysterious and inspired by the Shama in the Old Testament in Deuteronomy," notes Getty. "[It] reminds us of the radical thing of the church, as it is every generation coming together to sing to their creator [and] to work together to be family together." "What Grace is Mine" is another selection Getty mentions has a unique story behind it. "It was the first time in a hundred years that Holy Week was the same week of St. Patrick's Day, so we thought to mark that we would write a setting of a response to the Easter story based on Ireland's most famous melody, which is of course 'Danny Boy,'" Getty explains. "So my wife penned this beautiful, lyrical 'What Grace is Mine'. It's just become a special favorite that we always finish our concerts with." For the next month, the Gettys will be on a concert tour, mostly in America, but some in Australia and England. Their home base now is in Ohio.
