Christian leader hospitalized with meningitis

Associated Press smallDon WildmonTUPELO, MS - Rev. Don Wildmon, founder and chairman of the American Family Association, has been hospitalized in critical condition for treatment of meningitis.

 

AFA president Tim Wildmon says his 71-year-old father was diagnosed with the disease over the weekend and is hospitalized in Tupelo, Mississippi.


Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.


Don Wildmon has been a prominent conservative Christian leader since the 1970s.


The American Family Association is a non-profit organization that opposes abortion and pornography and supports traditional marriage. It broadcasts conservative and religious programming on about 200 American Family Radio stations nationwide.
