Undercover investigations of Planned Parenthood still haven't produced action by prosecutors in most states.
Three pro-life groups -- Live Action, Students for Life, and Life Dynamics, Inc. -- have conducted undercover probes of Planned Parenthood facilities around the country, proving that staff members have offered underage children abortions and given advice on how to avoid getting their impregnator -- sometimes 10 years older than the girls -- in trouble with the law. Congressman Trent Franks (R-Arizona) says there has not been one whisper of support from child advocacy groups around the country. "I'm astonished that they have lost their courage in this area, and it's an indictment against them," he contends. "It makes you wonder [about] some of them -- are they exploiting the whole child protection issue for their own purposes? Or are they there to try to stand up and advocate for children whose voices cannot be heard?" He urges child advocates to examine evidence from the investigations. "When [Planned Parenthood staffers] encourage a young girl to abort her child and to not tell anyone if that child's been fathered by a man 10 or 12 years her senior when she's a minor, that's a disgrace," he adds, "and it really just puts a tragic light on the whole notion of child advocacy." Franks believes child advocacy groups keep their distance in the matter in order to be politically correct.
