Pentecostal leaders are planning an event next year that seeks to address the goals and direction of the Charismatic movement.
Throughout this year, leaders of the Charismatic-Pentecostal movement have met more than 14 times at locations in America and other parts of the world. The meetings, also referred to as "conversations," address all aspects of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movement. Pastor Billy Wilson is chairman of this initiative which has come to be known as "Empowered 21." "The Charismatic-Pentecostal movement has been on a phenomenal growth curve around the globe for the last hundred years, but especially the last 40 to 50 years," Wilson reports. "And yet in many places globally, we are seeing in the movement a bit of a curtailing in the growth." Wilson says those issues and others are being addressed, all in preparation for an April gathering in Tulsa. He is hopeful the initiative will impact Christianity as a whole. "Our hope is that across Christianity there would be a new hunger and a new generation to be filled and empowered by God's Spirit, and in their context to really make a difference." So far, more than 400 Christian leaders have been involved in the meetings leading up to event April 8-10, 2010.
